Sasquatch Racing Trail Series Partners with Bay Area Lyme Foundation

San Francisco, CA – Leading Bay Area trail racing series, Sasquatch Racing, is proud to announce the Bay Area Lyme (BAL) Foundation as a presenting sponsor for their 2015 racing season. The Bay Area Lyme Foundation is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to making Lyme disease easy to diagnose and simple to cure.

Now in its third year, Sasquatch Racing produces family-friendly trail running events across the Bay Area for novice and experienced runners interested in tackling the 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon race distances.

“Partnering with Bay Area Lyme Foundation could not be a more perfect fit for our series,” said Matthew Forsman, Founder and Chief Running Officer of Sasquatch Racing. “With so many Sasquatch runners hitting the trails for the very first time, and with California tick-season being year-round, this is a great opportunity to educate people about Lyme disease symptoms as well as offer tips for reducing contact with ticks while traversing the outdoors.”

Bay Area Lyme Foundation was founded in Portola Valley by a group of neighbors alarmed by the number of people in the community who were suffering from Lyme disease. In less than three years, BAL has become the leading national funder of Lyme disease research in the US. The national nonprofit focuses on building public awareness, encouraging prevention, and accelerating development of diagnostics and treatments for the disease.

Lyme disease is the fastest-growing vector-borne disease in the country with more than 300,000 Americans diagnosed each year according to the CDC. Recent studies funded by Bay Area Lyme Foundation have confirmed that ticks carrying Lyme disease are widespread throughout the Bay Area.

“Working with Sasquatch Racing offers us a valuable opportunity to educate local outdoor enthusiasts who come in regular contact with ticks on the trails,” said Linda Giampa, Executive Director of Bay Area Lyme Foundation.

With four highly anticipated events scheduled for 2015, the Sasquatch Racing series continues in its tradition of creating fun, quirky, offbeat and mysterious trail running adventures. Runners interested in participating in multiple 2015 Sasquatch races now have the option of purchasing a “Trail Blaze Tour Pass” – Sasquatch Racing 20K, Sasquatch Superstar 40K, or Sasquatch Superstar 80K – which provides 5K, 10K, or Half  Marathon race entries into all four Sasquatch Racing events including The Rattlesnake Ramble, which kicks off on Sunday, February 8th.

All Sasquatch Racing events are chip timed so participants can compare their times and track personal records across all races. To learn more about Sasquatch Racing and to sign up for their 2015 events, visit: http://www.sasquatchracing.com/.
