Dr. Redinbo is a Professor of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Microbiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Redinbo Lab researches the structural and functional basis of cellular function with a focus on human health. Current projects include discovery and development of drugs that improve chemotherapeutic efficacy for cancer and other diseases, and elucidation of the mechanisms of antibiotic resistance propagation in infectious pathogens. Their basic science goals include understanding DNA manipulation and processing, transcription, and protein function during infection and disease. He is a member of the program in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology and a member of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. He received his PhD from University of California, Los Angeles.
In 2020, Bay Area Lyme Foundation provided a grant of more than $2 million to support Lyme disease research in honor of Neil Spector. As part of this effort, the Foundation has funded Dr. Redinbo to work in collaboration with Duke University, Tulane University and University of California at Davis to develop an effective treatment for Lyme disease.
